MAN ON THE MOON

...another year wiser?...

Really, I'm blaming the long holidays for the writer's block.

47 minutes later, my brain still refuses to respond.

A little bit of history: 3 years ago, yesterday, after a 17-day science mission, the Columbia orbiter suffered a catastrophic failure during re-entry to earth's atmosphere, which resulted in the death of all it's 7 crew members.

Almost the same date 10 years ago in 1986, the space shuttle Challenger accident sent shockwaves across the US of A. Just 73 minutes after take-off, disaster struck killing (also) all it's 7 crew members, including a high school teacher.

Closer to home, Malaysia is currently searching for it's first astronaut. The candidates include people from all walks of life: Engineers, doctors (one quite good looking one I must say, could become one hellava cute spaceman), athletes, accountants, both male and female, who aspire to make the nation proud. A year from now, we may be able to say we sent one of our own to space.

I guess it's much better than triumphantly saying (yawn) we have/made the biggest/tallest/longest mooncake, flagpole, etc., etc.. The list goes on.
Check Malaysia's Book of Records.

By the way, Malaysia's Most Beautiful (reality show) wrapped up recently. Ok, I have to admit, I did watch a few episodes, plus the final, although either way, the 'winner' is nothing to shout about. Not because she won't get heads turning walking down the street, but what these girls would actually do to win a contest (which, by the way offers a whole lot more than just good money) is just plain ugly (pun intended). From the result, I want to think that the real beautiful people just won't bother going for such auditions.

Yet, beauty is up to one's own interpretation.

I now realize that I (strangely) have the knack to watch very bad local (copycat) reality shows. Very entertaining though. One good excuse for staying home during those long holidays.

No wonder my brain just shuts down.

Too much of watching crap.
