LIVING ON THE EDGE

....the leap of faith....

Here's a story a colleague from Dubai told me during a technical course I was attending.

It was a team building training for him and a number of co-workers. One certain module was about overcoming your fear. To do that, they were asked to jump off a high cliff, with a rope tied around you of course. The cliff was so many feet up that not many dared to give it a try. Being one of the senior officers, this friend volunteered himself to be the first to do it.

As he walked towards the edge, he froze. He was scared shitless. Everybody was cheering him on. It took him awhile before he could drag his feet to what seemed to be the very ends of the earth. He took another step forward and jumped.

Right there and then, he felt like dying.

Then as the cable hit the brakes, he found himself gliding slowly, soaring through the air, and he could see specks of people down below, so tiny it took his breath away. And he loved every minute of it. The blue sky, the ocean down below.

Once he got his feet firmly on the ground once again, he asked "Can we do that again?"

:)

'Making that first step in deciding what to do with your problem is always the hardest, scariest and full of uncertainties, especially when we don't know what lies beyond. But once you make that leap of faith, you'll be alright.'

I nodded and smiled.

Can't agree more.

Of course he was talking about business management. And a deeper meaning.

Staying true to the theme, this is what I have planned for this weekend: -
