EVOLVER
- John Legend -

"Do you provide free internet connection?"

"Yes, broadband."

"May I (please) borrow a cable?"

"We don't lend cables, you'll have to buy (elsewhere)"

Would it help if I pay you to run out for a few minutes to get me one?....I guess not.

I mean, WHAT'S THE POINT?

WAITING FOR WEDNESDAY
- Lisa Loeb -

How shopping in Miri feels like: -

It's a beautiful Sunday, you go for a nice breakfast at Starbucks and you can feel the morning sun on your skin. Then you decide "Hmmm, while I'm here this fine day, I could go look for that yellow clutch bag I need to match my shoes, maybe even a new quilt set along the way."

So you make your first stop at Aussino, spend half an hour there, discounts offered are not bad but somehow you don't find anything that you really like. So on to the next store, another half hour past by and you think, "This could do." You walk around just to be sure and then decide maybe hold the quilt set for now and start hunting for the bag instead.

Fifteen minutes later, no bag found, neither is the quilt set. Time to check out the other store.

But wait, what other store? You've covered the whole mall!

Frustration kicks in. Irritated, empty-handed, you go back home and feel like whacking yourself on the head for spoiling an otherwise perfectly happy weekend.

Nature, outdoor, slow life, Miri's the place. Shopping heaven, not quite there yet to say the least.

KK anyone?

BREAK TO THE FUTURE

- Phontaine -

....before there was Power Rangers....

break

There was Ultraman, Mask Rider and....Gaban!

Drive on a Saturday morning and turn on the radio. You'll get to listen to an array of songs from all over the world - what I call the International Mix. Today was extra special, what I did not expect was a very familiar theme song from so long ago, one of those Japanese superhero series I must watch coming back from school, that time I was fully aware how silly the series was, no less entertaining. As it is with any good superhero series, the hero never dies and the villain will find itself fighting in vain to detroy the world as the hero gets up with his dying breath and blasts the bad monster baddie to oblivion!

So here's to Gaban.

break

Well, ok, to make it more interesting and upbeat, maybe a more 'clever' version for the weekend. Get those mics out!

MURDER ON THE DANCE FLOOR
- Sophie Ellis Bextor -

Blood all over the floor.

But that crunch in your stomach comes not from the physical bleeding but knowing that you have to take time off from your passion for a while, at least until that sprained ankle or the broken arm is sorted out.

Til then hang those dancing shoes for their well deserved rest, while you continue cheering on for your comrades.

....well, the little toenail did split and there was serious dripping of red but nothing a band-aid and some attention from two gentlemen can't make the non-existing pain go away (despite the unquestionable possibility that one of them is close to passing out by the sight of it). What a girl's got to do herself these days....

In case of emergency, please remain calm. The injured please attend to yourself quickly before you attend to the panic-stricken mass.

FAKETOWN
- Joe Purdy -

It's so quiet here. I've been staying home since yesterday because of the fever. Not only am I getting a good rest, I am actually glad that I'm counting the seconds. Even my weekends weren't like this because on Sundays I would start thinking about the working week ahead. These past couple of weeks, I suspect it has kept me awake most nights. I couldn't stop working. I couldn't help it.

It rained the whole afternoon today.

These two days, I didn't wander away, but far enough to catch my breath again.

p.s. Thanks Nat for dropping by and reading that old entry. You know what, I wish I've kept that pink paper.

THE DYNAMO OF VOLITION
- Jason Mraz -

So we were in a treasure hunt today. We had fun alright although I'm very sure I'll be knocked out early tonight.

But I still don't know the answer to one particular question: -

"What was the name of the theatre that was torn down to make way for Yu Lan Plaza in Miri?"

Or something like that.

We received conflicting answers from our sources.

Anybody? I'll buy coffee. :)
